Georgia DOT awards 11 construction contracts for statewide transportation projects

ATLANTA, GA - In March 2025, the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) awarded a total of 11 transportation contracts valued at approximately $51,150,115.65.

The largest single investment, valued at approximately $23 million, was awarded to CMES, Inc. for the construction of a bridge and its approaches along 1.032 miles of I-75/SR 401 over Cedar Creek Road (CR 179) in Bartow County. The second-largest construction project, valued at $3 million, involves the construction of a roundabout on SR 9 at Bannister Road (CR 741), spanning both Dawson and Forsyth counties. These two projects, and one additional contract represent approximately 54 percent of the total funds awarded.

Two resurfacing projects account for nearly $16 million, or 40 percent, of the total awards. The largest resurfacing project includes 5.964 miles of milling, inlay, and plant mix resurfacing on I-75/SR 401, from south of Beltline Trail/Old CSX Railroad to south of the bridge over the I-75/SR 401 ramp to I-85/SR 403 Northbound in Fulton County. The second resurfacing project, valued at approximately $3.37 million, covers 5.380 miles on SR 14 from south of Conley Drive to north of Haynes Street, also in Fulton County.

The remaining 6 percent of funds were allocated to six safety projects. The largest of these involves 6.289 miles of resurfacing, signing, pavement marking upgrades, and shoulder rehabilitation on New Buckeye Road (CR 12) from Ben Hall Lake Road to the Johnson County line in Laurens County.

The March awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2025, which began July 1, 2024, to $1.7 billion. This total includes TIA, Design-Bid-Build, and locally administered projects.
