A new landmark plan guiding the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) in its role to protect the region's water environment is now accepting public comments at [email protected].
The MWRD's five-year Strategic Plan was drafted to guide the MWRD through 2030. These ambitious goals will yield generations of protection for the region's prized water resources and the 5.19 million people that the MWRD serves each day.
Public comments are now being accepted through July 24.
The plan focuses on four critical areas that include: (1) wastewater and stormwater management, (2) business resilience, (3) resource development and management and (4) proactive evolution.
Each pillar calls out specific objectives sought during this five-year period, including improvements to the MWRD's operations and processes, financial agility, and ability to meet new environmental and regulatory requirements. The strategic plan, which incorporated public input, surveys and months of staff analysis, systematically breaks down these objectives into specific key results to help the MWRD organize, measure, and achieve its goals.
