Medical Plan Coverage Update

With ongoing negotiations between ProMedica and Medical Mutual of Ohio on an agreement for network coverage effective Jan. 1, 2026, University of Toledo employees utilizing ProMedica providers and facilities may receive a letter from them on these contract negotiations and your future coverage.

UToledo is committed to providing you with health insurance plan options that ensure you and your covered beneficiaries maintain in-network coverage for all UToledo Health providers and facilities. ProMedica will continue to be covered as Tier 2 in our medical plan for the remainder of the year.

As Medical Mutual and ProMedica continue their contract negotiations, we are hopeful that they will reach an agreement by the end of year. If Medical Mutual and ProMedica do not reach an agreement, ProMedica providers and facilities will still be covered by UToledo's health plans, but they will be considered Tier 3 providers. Our schedule of benefits is listed on our UToledo benefits web pages.

We understand the urgency of this situation and we are keeping a diligent eye on the progress of this important matter.
