Communication on news published in connection with EU-SILC survey
The Hungarian Central Statistical Office (HCSO) is devoted to inform users in an objective and transparent manner. The statistical data published by the Office are comparable in a transparent manner both internationally and nationally, so are suitable for being independent points of reference. One of HCSO's tasks laid down in law is to present the state of and trends in the economy, the society and the environment with statistical data. HCSO is professionally independent and trustworthy in its functioning, and acts according to international standards in processing its data.
It is according to these national and international standards that it makes the EU-SILC survey, too, Eurostat validates the results of which and publishes them subsequently in its own database every year. However, HCSO implements at present, similarly to other EU member states, a revision - for 5 years - based on census data.
Statistical data are collected and processed according to strict professional and ethical rules. HCSO processes all its data series under the appropriate professional supervision, and communicates results in a transparent and accurate way in all cases. HCSO firmly refuses the charge of intentional juggling with figures. The Office can legally examine malicious interpretation, the influencing of public opinion and the damaging of the institution's reputation.
