ADVISORY - ADAMS COUNTY - Governor Shapiro, Secretary Redding to Announce New Funding to Support Local Fruit Growers Impacted by Devastating Crop Freeze

Governor Josh Shapiro and Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding will visit Three Springs Fruit Farm in Adams County to announce that farmers can begin applying for $10 million in Freeze Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants that will support local growers who experienced significant crop loss following a devastating freeze in April.

In May, Governor Shapiro sent a letter calling on the USDA to expedite damage assessment reports and to issue a secretarial disaster declaration. The USDA has since granted 58 Pennsylvania counties disaster designations, which allow growers to seek low-interest loans to restore operations and get faster damage assessments to finalize crop insurance claims.
