America Magazine recently published a story about Father Bryan Pham, S.J., and the timing is no surprise given that the NCAA basketball tournaments are underway and Fr. Pham is the team chaplain for both the men's and women's Gonzaga basketball teams.
The story is about much more than basketball, though, as it delves into Fr. Pham's legal advocacy work at Gonzaga's General Public Practice and Indian Law Clinic, his dedicated work with the Jesuits West province, his care for Gonzaga students, and work advocating for ethical investing.
In a particularly striking passage, he describes joining the Jesuits at 17 after learning about six Jesuits murdered in El Salvador in 1989.
"You only get one life, and I wanted to live a life that was so meaningful, I'd be willing to die for my faith and what I believe in," Fr. Pham told "America" reporter John W. Miller.
