Nikolai Patrushev visited Republic of Karelia

In Petrozavodsk, with the involvement of Presidential Aide and Chair of the Maritime Board Nikolai Patrushev, technological equipment underwent operational testing at the Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant, where Russia's inaugural digital shipyard is being established.

Preparatory work is currently in progress to initiate the first phase of the digital shipyard. To this end, the shipyard is undergoing significant modernisation. The project encompasses the construction of new production facilities, along with the robotisation and automation of production processes, and digital support across all stages of shipbuilding.

On the same day, Nikolai Patrushev visited the Belomorsk-Onega branch of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping. He acquainted himself with the university's activities, discussed its development prospects, emphasising the importance of enhancing the quality of training for crews of sea and river vessels. Additionally, the conversation focused on plans to establish a centre for training shipbuilders within the secondary vocational education system.

During a meeting with Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Northwestern Federal District Alexander Gutsan and Head of the Republic of Karelia Arthur Parfenchikov, Mr Patrushev deliberated on the operation of navigation equipment and navigable hydraulic structures of the White Sea - Baltic Canal.
