The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that the metallizing of Bridge #03606 (New Street over Route 8) will be performed on Route 8 in Winchester. This work is scheduled to occur on Thursday, June 25 and be completed on Friday, September 25, 2026. The project 0065-0114 consists of Metallizing of 19 Bridges along route 8 corridor between Torrington and Colebrook.
CTDOT Project No. 0065-0114 was awarded to Allied Painting Inc. at a cost of $15,757,497.05 on 12/22/2024 and is scheduled to be completed 11/30/2027. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
There will be temporary lane closures on Route 8 for short durations between Exit 55 and Route 44 between Thursday, June 25 to Friday, September 25, 2026. Traffic control signing patterns will be in place with State Police to guide motorists through the work zone.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
