WASHINGTON - Senator John Hoeven today announced that his guest for this year's State of the Union address is former North Dakota First Lady Kathryn Burgum, who was recently named co-chair of President Trump's Great American Recovery Initiative. As the Senior Advisor for Addiction Recovery, Burgum will work with the Secretary of Health and Human Services to help coordinate a national response to the addiction crisis, helping to save lives and improve communities.
"As the First Lady of North Dakota, Kathryn did a tremendous job in helping to combat addiction and help individuals and families to recover and rebuild their lives," said Hoeven. "Now, as President Trump's Senior Advisor for Addiction Recovery, she is continuing this good work for the entire nation. We're happy to host her at tonight's address and look forward to hearing from President Trump."
