Schiff secures more than $254 million federal funding for critical investments in housing, public safety, and conservation projects across California
Indio, CA - Today, U.S. Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is announcing he secured $1.92 million for Indio's Valley Sanitary District for their Recycled Water Project to support water reliability by reusing tertiary treated water as a new, sustainable water source.
The funding is part of the $254,457,366 in total federal funding Schiff delivered for California for the 2026 fiscal year, with the passage of recent funding bills. The funds Senator Schiff secured for California will increase housing supply, provide resources to support fire preparedness safety, and make critical infrastructure and environmental conservation upgrades.
"I'm proud to have fought for and delivered nearly $2 million to support water infrastructure in Indio, part of hundreds of millions in federal investments that went to California in my first year in the U.S. Senate," said Senator Schiff. "This critical funding will allow projects in communities big and small to break ground and get to the last mile, and it delivers on key California priorities including ensuring clean water supply, increasing housing supply, fire recovery and preparedness, environmental conservation, and agriculture and rural development. These investments would not be possible without the partnership of my colleague Senator Alex Padilla, our colleagues in the House, and community leaders who helped ensure that California receives the resources it deserves."
