RSV Immunization Recommendation Extended
As we approach the end of March, RSV levels in Chicago are higher than normal for the time of year. While RSV season typically ends by March 31 in Chicago, the ongoing elevated activity levels suggests that this year's RSV season will extend further into the spring. Given this elevated activity, CDPH is extending the recommended window for infant RSV immunization to April 30, 2026. Doctors should continue to actively recommend and offer RSV monoclonal antibody products to infants under 8 months old through the end of April.
CDPH monitors levels of COVID-19, flu, and RSV across Chicago on our Respiratory Illness Dashboard and updates the data on a weekly basis. For more information on RSV and how you can protect your family, visit the RSV page on the CDPH website.
Healthy Chicago Podcast
Did you know that Chicago has the largest air monitoring network in the country and the second largest in the world? This network is made up of monitors that collect data on air quality, helping us understand what residents are breathing and make informed choices to protect their health and communities.
Organizations like the Little Village Environmental Justice Organization (LVEJO) were key to making it happen. In the Spanish-language podcast, Jocelyn Vázquez-Gómez from LVEJO shares her role in the project and explains how the air monitors will help bring solutions to areas like La Villita, where high pollution levels are caused by factories, traffic, and other factors.
