Statement by the HR/VP on behalf of the EU on the alignment of certain countries concerning restrictive measures in view of Iran’s military support to Russia’s war of[...]

On 24 July 2026, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP)2025/18371 amending Decision (CFSP) 2023/1532 concerning restrictive measures in view of Iran's military support to Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and to armed groups and entities in the Middle East and the Red Sea region as well as Iran's actions undermining freedom of navigation in the Middle East.

The Council decided to renew the restrictive measures set out in Decision (CFSP) 2023/1532 and to remove four persons designated in the Annex to that Decision.

Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Moldova (Republic of), Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway and Ukraine align themselves with this Council Decision.

They will ensure that their national policies conform to this Decision.

The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.
