As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department's homepage and on the "News" tab of the Department's website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here's a recap of incidents occurring last night:

• Stabbing - 200 block of West Broadway: On Dec. 27, 2024 at approximately 7:13 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of West Broadway regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was outside in a verbal dispute with a male adult suspect, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. Officers located the suspect nearby and safely took him into custody. The suspect was identified as Frank Alvin Sessions, a 66-year-old person experiencing homelessness, who was booked for assault with a deadly weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing a peace officer, and an outstanding warrant. Bail was set at no bail. The investigation is ongoing.
