Junior Accountant

Give us a brief overview of your role.

As a Junior Accountant at GSI, I support accounting and financial operations across multiple project portfolios. My role encompasses project accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, which includes handling invoice processing, bank reconciliations, project cost tracking, and payment coordination. A key part of my day-to-day responsibilities involves maintaining clear communication, as well as collaborating closely and following up with our internal development teams.

What is the most memorable moment you have had working for GSI?

Reaching my first anniversary at GSI this past July was a major milestone for me. Reflecting back on that first year, it was deeply rewarding to realize how much my role had grown. As our accounting team evolved, I had the opportunity to step up, take on additional responsibilities, and become much more involved in complex tasks across different entities and project portfolios.

What led you to a career in energy policy and market analysis and what have you found rewarding from working in the renewables sector?

What drew me to accounting was the opportunity to understand how businesses operate beyond just the numbers. Accounting gives you direct visibility into different areas of an organization and helps explain how projects function as a whole. Working in the renewable energy sector makes that especially engaging because every project is unique. Being involved across multiple renewable initiatives has given me a much broader understanding of what goes into bringing these projects forward and how vital financial support is to that process.

Tell us one interesting fact about yourself that your colleagues might not know.

I am currently working towards earning my CPA designation. The program is structured around self-study modules that cover deep technical chapters, quizzes, integrated problems, and practice cases. It takes a lot of dedication to balance full-time work at GSI with studying, but I am really excited to keep building my professional skillset and advancing my career.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

When I'm not working through my CPA study modules, I love spending my free time outdoors staying active. Playing soccer and going road biking or cycling are two of my favorite hobbies. Overall, I enjoy any outdoor activity where I can get moving and explore new places.

What is one thing you'd like to cross off your bucket list?

Traveling to Spain has been a dream of mine for a long time. Top on my bucket list is taking a trip to visit Madrid, with the ultimate highlight being attending a live soccer match at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium to watch Real Madrid play!
