County of Lambton Activates Emergency Operations Centre Due to Hazardous Weather and Road Conditions

Wyoming, ON - The County of Lambton has activated its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in response to current weather and road conditions to coordinate emergency response efforts, support essential services.

Due to hazardous conditions, multiple roads, including Highway 402, are closed and travel is unsafe. Residents are urged to stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary. Limiting travel will help protect public safety and allow emergency crews to respond more effectively.

Warming centres are open and available for residents who require a safe, warm place. A list of warming centres can be found at https://lambtonpublichealth.ca/warming-and-cooling-centres-in-lambton-county/. All Lambton County Library locations are closed.

Lambton Emergency Medical Services is experiencing prolonged response delays in the Plympton-Wyoming and Lambton Shores areas. Residents are asked to call 911 only for life-threatening emergencies at this time. For non-urgent medical concerns, residents are encouraged to contact Health Connect Ontario by calling 811 or visiting health811.ontario.ca. Lambton EMS will resume normal service levels as soon as conditions safely allow.

"We are asking residents to take this situation seriously, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow all road closures and safety advisories. These measures help protect both the public and the emergency responders working in challenging conditions."
