Carmel Valley Road Resurfacing - Carmel Rancho Blvd to via Petra

The County of Monterey will begin the Carmel Valley Road Resurfacing Project to improve roadway conditions and enhance safety for the traveling public. The approximate limit of work is from Carmel Rancho Boulevard to Via Petra.

The project is scheduled to begin on June 29, 2026, and will take approximately fifty-five (55) working days to complete. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of October 2026. Work will generally occur during the day between the hours of 8:30 am to 3:30 pm and with some night work between 7:00 pm to 5:00 am.

Construction work will be suspended, and all work areas will be cleared during the following dates:
•Friday, July 3, 2026, through Monday, July 6, 2026: Fourth of July Holiday Weekend •Wednesday, August 5, 2026, through Monday, August 17, 2026: Monterey Car Week Event

In general, the work involves pavement repair, placing of hot-mix-asphalt, and installing new pavement striping and pavement markings.

Traffic control measures such as lane closure and one-lane reversible traffic control will be in place during construction. The public is encouraged to use alternate routes whenever possible and plan ahead to allow additional travel time. Motorists are urged to exercise caution in the construction zone and follow all posted signage and flagger instructions for the safety of both workers and the public.

The estimated construction cost is approximately $5 million. This project is funded by Measure X and State Senate Bill 1 (SB1).
The construction contract for this project was awarded to Granite Rock Company of Watsonville, CA.
