Clerk López issues statement on 2026 Election Cleanup Bill

Published on June 02, 2026

Clerk Paul López issued the following statement after Governor Polis signed HB26-1113, which modernizes Colorado's election laws and practices, into law:

"Election procedure cleanup bills are usually routine, but in a time where bad actors are threatening the very foundations of our democratic processes, they become vital lifelines. This bill strengthens our election system by improving access, clarifying procedures, and ensuring counties have clear standards when unexpected issues arise. Our focus remains the same: every eligible voter should have a fair, clear, and secure path to the ballot and this legislation ensures that process stays resilient against outside interference."
