Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu Meets with Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Syrian Embassy in China Zakaria Lababidi

On May 15, 2026, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Charge d'Affaires a.i. of the Syrian Embassy in China Zakaria Lababidi at the latter's request.

Miao Deyu noted that China and Syria enjoy traditional friendship. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Developing sound bilateral ties serves the fundamental interests of the two peoples and is also conducive to regional peace and development. China is ready to provide assistance to Syria for its post-war economic and social development and improvement of people's livelihood to the best of its capability. The two sides should work together to deepen people-to-people friendship and advance mutually beneficial cooperation bilaterally and within the framework of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.

Zakaria Lababidi noted that Syria cherishes the traditional friendship with China, admires China's tremendous development achievements, and looks forward to China's proactive participation in Syria's national reconstruction and development. Syria stands ready to continuously enhance political mutual trust with China and open up new prospects for cooperation.
