The Deputy Minister of National Defence Travels to Spain to Meet with his Counterpart Amparo Valcarce

The Deputy Minister of National Defence Thanasis Davakis will travel to Madrid, where he will meet with his Spanish counterpart Amparo Valcarce.

The meeting will take place tomorrow and they are expected to discuss the enhancement of cooperation in the field of defence industry and determine common priorities, within the framework of NATO and the EU. They will examine the expansion of opportunities/synergies for the development of joint technological programmes, which can utilise the capabilities and technical know-how of the two countries' defence industries.

After the bilateral talks, the two Deputy Ministers will participate in Industry Day with representatives from thirty (30) defence industry enterprises from both countries, during which, cooperation opportunities between the companies will be examined.

The visit of the Deputy Minister of National Defence to Spain constitutes a continuation of the meeting of the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis with his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sánchez and the King of Spain Felipe VI de España on 12 January 2026 in Madrid. It falls under the framework of governmental policy for the constant strengthening of bilateral relations in the fields of Defence and Innovation.
