Mimi will be based in our Los Angeles bureau, where she will be reporting and producing breaking news and short-form enterprise video with a California focus. She will deploy to major news stories in the state and region as well as work on video featuring Times journalists on-camera.
Prior to joining The Times in a staff role, she was a freelance journalist in video and text, frequently reporting for The New York Times's Los Angeles bureau over the past year, covering both this summer's immigration protests and January's devastating wildfires.
She was previously an immigration reporter with Reuters News and a reporter and producer with "Vice News Tonight" on HBO, where she covered a wide range of subjects, including migration, policing, business and education. At Vice, she was part of teams that won Emmy awards for coverage of the Trump administration's family separation policy and of Justice Brett Kavanaugh's Senate confirmation hearings.
For the past several years she has worked in documentary, including as a producer on the Emmy-nominated HBO film "The Perfect Weapon" and the HBO series "Love Has Won."
Please join us in congratulating them!
