The City of Lewisville has lifted a water boil notice that was issued early Friday morning, meaning that Lewisville's water supply is once again confirmed to be safe for consumption.
Water customers who were affected by the boil water notice are urged to flush their home or business water system. A list of recommended steps is attached.
State-mandated water quality test results received early Sunday morning showed that the water met or exceeded state and federal standards for water safety.
The boil water notice was initiated shortly after 1 p.m. Friday afternoon after water service and water pressure suddenly plummeted for a few hundred customers in central Lewisville earlier in the night. The cause was determined to be a 12-inch water main that had failed.
Lewisville's water system serves a city of more than 140,000 residents and has been recognized as a Superior Public Water System. By the American Public Works Association. The City's drinking water maintains its rating of Superior Public Water Supply, the highest rating given by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, by meeting and exceeding state and federal standards.
