Mostostal Siedlce has completed the first stage of alignment with nuclear certification

Mostostal Siedlce, a company of Polimex Mostostal Capital Group, as one of the selected Polish enterprises, has already completed the first of three phases of alignment with the requirements of the US Nuclear Quality Assurance Standard (NQA1), the positive completion of which is a condition for inclusion in the supply chains of the global nuclear sector. Six domestic companies are taking part in the Westinghouse Electric Company-led trial, which is being coordinated by Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe.

"The successful completion of the first phase of the NQA-1 standard alignment process by all companies from the selected group proves the full and responsible commitment of Polish industry representatives to preparing for participation in our project. Changes are being implemented in many areas, internal procedures are being adapted, and safety culture standards are being implemented, particularly relevant in the nuclear industry. This is a natural and necessary course of action, aimed at establishing a permanent presence for Polish companies in the international nuclear sector,"said Marek Woszczyk, President of the Management Board of Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe.

"The completion of the first stage of the NQA-1 certification process by Mostostal Siedlce is not only a technical milestone, but above all a confirmation of the strategic direction we have taken as Polimex Mostostal Capital Group. Adapting to the rigorous requirements of the nuclear industry opens up new opportunities - both in domestic and international energy projects. This proves that Polish industry is ready to play a key role in the energy transition based on safe and modern technologies," added Jakub Stypuła, President of the Management Board of Polimex Mostostal S.A. - Polimex Mostostal S.A. Group.

The first of three stages, which was completed by Mostostal Siedlce and Energomontaż Północ Gdynia, involved the comprehensive development of procedures in the areas of quality assurance, equipment inspection, design and technical documentation, and the preparation of corrective measures. The suppliers moved smoothly to the next stage, which was to implement the solutions developed. In the final phase of the process, all operators will carry out a trial nuclear island module (the so-called mock-up).

"For us, completing the first phase of the NQA-1 qualification not only confirms the high quality of the team's work, but also proves that we are ready to follow the path of global standards. This milestone opens up the possibility for us to make a real contribution to the construction of Poland's first nuclear power plant and become part of the global nuclear supply chain. This is a huge challenge and a great opportunity for our company and the entire Baltic Industrial Group," emphasises Artur Sobolewski, President of the Management Board of Energomontaż-Północ Gdynia.

The successful completion of all phases will allow suppliers to compete for contracts in the project implemented in the Choczewo commune, not only in the area of the conventional, but also in the nuclear part of the power plant. Thanks to the US NQA-1 certification, Polish companies will also be able to participate more extensively in AP1000 nuclear projects around the world.
