SACRAMENTO, CA - The California Democratic Party (CADEM) today announced the addition of two top strategists to its senior staff as Democrats gear up for a special election in November 2025 and pivotal midterm Congressional elections in 2026, including: Helen Amelga as Organizing and Training Director, and Emma Lenz as Communications Director. CADEM is expanding its "California Strong" team to lead efforts that engage voters and protect our state and our Democracy against Donald Trump's reckless, dangerous, billionaires first agenda.
Helen Amelga has been named Organizing and Training Director, bringing more than a decade of experience in campaigns, advocacy, and policy. Amelga has served as staff for the California State Senate and worked on high-profile political campaigns, and most recently served as Southern California Operations Director for the Harris for President campaign, where she helped drive grassroots engagement across key regions.
Emma Lenz joins as Communications Director after serving as a senior strategist at Swanson Communications, where she managed California media for the Democratic National Convention in Chicago and worked on targeted congressional campaigns across California. She also worked on earned media for the Campaign for a Safe and Healthy California, and helped secure an unprecedented victory against Big Oil in order to safeguard communities against toxic drilling.
"This is a critical moment for California and our country. Expanding our team with proven leaders like Helen and Emma ensures we're ready to meet the challenges ahead and win back congressional seats that will decide the balance of power in Washington," said Yvette Martinez, Executive Director of the California Democratic Party. "We are California Strong and growing our leadership team to organize, communicate, and deliver for the people of this state. Today, we are doubling down on our efforts to protect democracy and deliver results for working families."
The California Democratic Party is the largest in the nation, with more than 10 million members.
