Atlanta, Ga. - U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock are delivering resources to upgrade recreational facilities in Atlanta.
Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock brought Republicans and Democrats together to help the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta upgrade infrastructure at the Arthur M. Blank Family Youth YMCA, the Andrew and Walter Young Family YMCA, and the Villages at Carver Family YMCA, including new lighting, roof repairs, and other infrastructure renovations.
Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock are delivering $1,039,000 for the project through bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on February 3.
"Georgia kids need safe places to play. That's why Senator Reverend Warnock and I brought Republicans and Democrats together to upgrade YMCAs in Metro Atlanta to ensure families can benefit from their great programs," Sen. Ossoff said.
"YMCAs are an important part of growing up for so many children, and I am proud to have worked with Senator Ossoff and our Metro Atlanta YMCAs to secure the infrastructure upgrades they need to continue serving the Atlanta community for years to come," said Senator Warnock.
"On behalf of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, we are deeply grateful to our federal partners for this critical investment in safety and infrastructure improvements at three of our Y locations, Arthur M. Blank Family Youth YMCA in downtown Atlanta, the Andrew and Walter Young Family YMCA in Southwest Atlanta, and the Villages at Carver Family YMCA in Southeast Atlanta," said Lauren Koontz, President & CEO of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. "These locations are essential community anchors for the families they serve. This investment strengthens spaces that are already transforming lives every day, ensuring they remain safe, welcoming, and ready to support children and families for years to come. We're truly appreciative of the partnership and shared commitment to the well-being of our community."
