Oklahoma Man Sentenced to Prison for Fentanyl Trafficking

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 37 months in federal prison, to be followed by two years of supervised release, on his conviction of fentanyl trafficking, United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced today.

United States District Judge W. Scott Hardy imposed the sentence on Edwin Hernandez, 25, who previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl.

According to information presented to the Court, on February 2, 2022, Hernandez's vehicle was stopped on Interstate 80 in Mercer County while transporting four kilograms of fentanyl. He was released on bond while his charges were pending in state court and absconded for nearly three years before being apprehended.

Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller prosecuted this case on behalf of the United States.

United States Attorney Rivetti commended the Pennsylvania State Police and Homeland Security Investigations for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Hernandez.
