Secretary of State Diego Morales Welcomes Taiwan Agricultural Trade Goodwill Mission to Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS- (September 29, 2025) - Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales joined international and state leaders at the Taiwan Agricultural Trade Goodwill Mission signing ceremony, celebrating a long-standing partnership between Taiwan and Indiana.

The 2025 Taiwan Agricultural Trade Goodwill Mission returned to Indiana for the first time since 2019 to strengthen agricultural trade ties. During the visit, Taiwan's delegation signed letters of intent committing to purchase U.S. soybean and corn products, a deal expected to total more than $6 billion.

"Indiana farmers feed not just our state and nation, but the world. As Secretary of State, I've been a strong advocate for attracting international business to Indiana and promoting our Hoosier farmers. This partnership with Taiwan highlights the importance of strengthening international trade ties and investing in the future of agriculture. Indiana is open for business, and our farmers remain at the heart of our state's economy," said Diego Morales, Indiana Secretary of State.

Since day one, Secretary Morales has focused on building strategic partnerships with Taiwan, even visiting in his first year, 2023, to strengthen those ties. Nearly three years later, he continues to foster these relationships, drawing on his unique background to connect with Taiwan in meaningful ways. His leadership has also contributed to attracting investment to Indiana.

Secretary Morales has often said that "Indiana has the best soybeans and corn," a message that continues to resonate in building and sustaining international partnerships like this one.

Indiana and Taiwan share a special bond as the first-ever sister-states. Over the years, Taiwan has become a key partner for Hoosier farmers.
