NEW YORK-On Friday, April 3, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York will host a hybrid symposium titled "The K-Shaped Economy." Organized by the New York Fed's Applied Macroeconomics and Econometrics Center, the symposium aims to stimulate debate among academics, practitioners, and policymakers on whether the economy is splitting into two tiers, with diverging outcomes for the wealthy compared to others.
The sessions will cover micro-level evidence of a K-shaped economy, diverging asset markets, and implications of the K-shaped economy for macroeconomic dynamics and monetary policy.
The conference is open to the public virtually. Further details and registration information are available on the event page.
The event is open to media both virtually and in person. All remarks are on the record and a recording will be made available afterward. Media who wish to attend must register by contacting Ellen Simon at [email protected].
