Introducing the Inaugural Wirecutter Hall of Fame Awards

Wirecutter announces a major new franchise: the Wirecutter Hall of Fame Awards.

To mark 15 years of rigorous reporting and independent product recommendations, Wirecutter is honoring an inaugural class of 50 products that have proven their excellence and rank among the best of the best of the tens of thousands of products Wirecutter has ever tested.

All 50 products have survived six or more years of continuous testing without being dethroned as picks by Wirecutter, whose independent newsroom now numbers 175 best-in-class journalists.

The Hall of Fame Awards celebrate Wirecutter's commitment to thorough, long-term testing, product longevity, and enduring reader satisfaction. From kitchen staples and sleep essentials to travel favorites and reliable everyday tools, the inductees include buy-it-for-life legends across a range of categories and price points.

"Wirecutter's Hall of Fame Awards highlight our commitment to finding quality items that keep our readers' lives running smoothly. In a time of vacuous trends and viral products, our journalists make their recommendations based on testing, rigor and total editorial independence," said Leta Shy, Editorial Director of Lifestyle and Initiatives, NYT Wirecutter.

Key elements of the Hall of Fame selection process:

  • Editorial leadership spent weeks debating hundreds of eligible picks to crown the final 50 products across home, tech, sleep, apparel, and everyday gear.
  • Eligible picks had to remain an active recommendation for at least six consecutive years, passing years of hands-on evaluations.
  • Once inducted, winners will continue to be included in our annual Hall of Fame Awards unless they are dethroned as a Wirecutter Pick.

Over the past 15 years, Wirecutter experts have logged hundreds of thousands of hours testing tens of thousands of products. Even as Wirecutter expands into new formats and experiences, its core mission remains unchanged: delivering independent, trustworthy advice to help readers make confident decisions that help them live better.
