Chairwoman McClain’s Statement on the U.S. House passing the Preventing Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act

WASHINGTON
- House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) issued the following statement after the U.S. House passed the Preventing Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act.

"Democrats had a chance to show whose side they are on. Some in their party chose to stand with illegal aliens, while the entire Republican conference showed we stand with our daughters, nieces, granddaughters, and sisters. House Republicans are already making our country safer, and I commend Congresswoman Nancy Mace for her efforts on this legislation," McClain said.

The bill closes a loophole in immigration law by adding inadmissibility for specific domestic violence-related offenses. It protects women from violent illegal immigrants by establishing grounds for inadmissibility and removability for aliens convicted of, or admitting to, a second offense under the Adam Walsh Child Protection Act of 2006.
