Record Breaking Early Voting Period Ends, Election Day Set to Open June 9
COLUMBIA, S.C. (June 5, 2026)- The South Carolina Election Commission reports a record-breaking early voting period, with more than 318,600 ballots cast statewide. As voters prepare for Election Day on June 9, the SEC is reminding voters of several important deadlines and requirements.
Early Voting Totals
2026 Total EV Turnout: 318,602
2024 Total EV Turnout: 120,178
2022 Total EV Turnout: 100,450
Voting on Tuesday, June 9:

Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Any voter who is in line by 7:00 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Before heading to the polls, voters are encouraged to verify their polling place and review their sample ballot at scVOTES.gov.

Make sure to bring a valid Photo ID to vote.
Returning an Absentee Ballot
Voters who still have an absentee ballot should keep the following in mind:

To be counted, absentee ballots must be received by the county voter registration and elections office no later than 7:00 p.m. on June 9.

Be sure to sign the voter's oath and have the return envelope witnessed before returning the ballot. Make sure the witness provides an address.

Instead of mailing your ballot, consider personally delivering your ballot to ensure it arrives on time.

An authorized returnee may return a ballot on a voter's behalf if the required authorized returnee is completed.

Voters returning an absentee ballot in person must present a valid Photo ID.
