Christmas and New Year's Schedule of Services for the City of Alexandria

All City of Alexandria government offices will be closed on Wednesday, December 24, and Thursday, December 25, to observe Christmas. All City of Alexandria government offices will be closed on Thursday, January 1, to observe New Year's Day.

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS)

Monday, December 22 through Friday, January 2: ACPS Students on Winter Break.

Alexandria Transit Company (DASH)

Thursday, December 25: In observance of Christmas, DASH will operate on a Saturday-Sunday (weekend) schedule. Lines 102, 103, and 104 will not run.

Thursday, January 1: In observance of New Year's Day, DASH will operate on a Saturday-Sunday (weekend) schedule. Lines 102, 103, and 104 will not run.

The King Street Trolleyruns daily, every 15 minutes, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA)

The City's impound lot is closed on all weekends and observed City holidays. Fees will continue to accrue on Saturday and Sunday, but not on holidays.

Parking

Wednesday, December 24: The Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces and residential permit parking districts.

Thursday, December 25: The Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces and residential permit parking districts.

Thursday, January 1: The Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces and residential permit parking districts.

This suspension of enforcement applies only to the restrictions at legal parking spaces and does not permit parking in any normally prohibited location. Temporary no-parking signs will be enforced.

Recreation and Nature Centers

Wednesday, December 24: All RPCA facilities will be closed.

Thursday, December 25: All RPCA facilities will be closed.

Wednesday, December 31: Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility will close at 3 p.m. All other facilities will be open for regularly scheduled hours.

Resource Recovery

Wednesday, December 24: All collections will follow the normal collection service schedule.

Thursday, December 25: Trash, recycling, yard waste, and curbside food waste collections will be delayed one day.

The Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Center will open as usual on Saturday, December 26.
