WASHINGTON - Today, Chair Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) led the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship in advancing President Trump's nominee William Kirk for Inspector General of the Small Business Administration (SBA) by a vote of 10-9.
Last month during his confirmation hearing, Ernst touted Kirk's strong credentials and commitment to holding COVID fraudsters accountable.
"I'm excited to advance another terrific Trump nominee in Mr. Kirk," said Ernst. "I look forward to working with him to ensure every dollar stolen by fraudsters is recovered. Congress must pass my SBA Fraud Enforcement Extension Act to give Mr. Kirk the time and tools necessary to fully investigate and hold these criminals accountable."
Background:
Ernst's SBA Fraud Enforcement Extension Act, which passed out of committee, would extend the statute of limitations for COVID fraudsters and empower the Trump administration to recover $200 billion in potentially fraudulent COVID relief advances and loans.
She introduced the legislation after a shocking report revealed that the Biden SBA failed to pursue nearly two million individuals suspected of stealing pandemic aid.
