SCO Secretary-General Meets with Delegation of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization
On 4 February 2026, Nurlan Yermekbayev, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization met with Vladimir Rakhmanin, Special Adviser to the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), at the SCO Secretariat in Beijing.

During the talks, the Secretary-General noted that cooperation with the FAO is an important part of the SCO's efforts to ensure food security and promote sustainable development in the Eurasian region.
The two sides exchanged views on the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two organizations in 2024, with a special focus on the feasibility of implementing practical joint projects in regions including Central Asia.
Vladimir Rakhmanin noted with satisfaction the steady implementation of the provisions of the MoU, reaffirmed the FAO's commitment to further deepening its partnership with the SCO, and proposed the expeditious coordination and subsequent adoption of a plan for joint activities for the period 2026-2029.
