The City of Greensboro Office of Sustainability and Resilience (OSR) has published its 2025 Annual Progress Report & Strategic Energy Plan Implementation - Year Three. This third-annual report describes the activities implemented in 2025, including the Strategic Energy Plan's (SEP) eight organization-wide recommendations. The report also features several projects, collaborative efforts, and highlights from throughout the year.
The Office of Sustainability & Resilience was created in 2022 to oversee and support a variety of City sustainability efforts, including executing the SEP, which guides how the City will reduce its greenhouse gas footprint and transition to 100 percent renewable energy by 2040, while advancing more sustainable and resilient City operations.
"Our progress in energy-efficiency initiatives continues to demonstrate measurable success, both in reducing operational costs and mitigating environmental impact," said Chief Sustainability Officer S. Shree Dorestant, DM. "Through the identification and execution of key funding projects, we have strategically allocated resources to areas that yield the greatest returns in energy performance, environmental compliance, extensive education and outreach, and resilience planning."
In 2025, OSR and other City departments made progress on a wide range of SEP recommendations, goals, and strategies. The office continues to work on climate resilience, energy management, environmental compliance, sustainability and resilience planning, as well as education and outreach initiatives that build awareness and support these efforts.
