Orange County Government Announces Calendar of Events to Honor the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Zora Neale Hurston, and February as Black History Month

Orange County, FL- Orange County's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Initiative announces its calendar of events for January and February 2026. The mission of the initiative is to celebrate Dr. King's legacy through programs that foster unity and connectivity.

MLK Events

  • January 13 at 9 a.m. - Orange County proclamation recognizing Monday, January 19, as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • January 16 at 11 a.m. - Alpha Phi Alpha MLK Commemorative Luncheon
  • January 17 at 10 a.m. - Downtown Orlando Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Parade
  • January 17 at 2 p.m. - City of Eatonville MLK Parade
  • January 19 at 7:30 a.m. - Arthur "Pappy" Kennedy Prayer Breakfast
  • January 19 at 9 a.m. - U.S. Hunger and Orange County MLK Initiative Day of Service
  • January 19 at 10 a.m. - City of Ocoee MLK Parade
  • January 19 at 2 p.m. - City of Apopka MLK Parade

Zora! Festival Season - Outdoor Festival of the Arts

  • January 30 through February 1 - Three-day celebration of heritage, creativity, and community, featuring artists, performances, food, and cultural exhibits

Black History Month

  • January 27 at 9 a.m. - Orange County proclamation recognizing February 2026 as Black History Month
