Historical Commission to accept nominations
for 2026 Preservation Awards program

FREEHOLD, NJ - The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners is proud to announce that the Monmouth County Historical Commission is accepting nominations for its annual Preservation Awards program.

"As our nation celebrates its 250th anniversary, my fellow Commissioners and I encourage residents, organizations, business owners, and municipal officials who have recently preserved a historic structure to apply for a 2026 Preservation Award," said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. "The dedicated members of the Historical Commission do a wonderful job recognizing those who protect Monmouth County's historic resources, and we thank them for their important work."

"As we mark this milestone in our nation's history, the Historical Commission is excited to recognize individuals and organizations who have undertaken meaningful and challenging preservation projects," said Commissioner Erik Anderson, liaison to the Monmouth County Historical Commission. "These efforts require a significant commitment of time, effort, and resources, and we are grateful to all who help preserve Monmouth County's history for future generations."

In 2025, a Preservation Award was presented to Peter and Linda Foy for their exceptional restoration of Ashling Cottage in Spring Lake.

A nomination form may be printed from the County's web page at www.visitmonmouth.comunder the Department tab, accessing the Historical Commission's web page and the Preservation Awards program. The nomination form provides applicants with an opportunity to explain how their project contributes to historic preservation. For the first time, historic cemetery restoration efforts are eligible for consideration.

The deadline to submit a nominating form is April 17. The Preservation Awards will be presented during an Awards Night to be held on June 1. For additional information, email [email protected].
