State Route 4/Ebbetts Pass Traffic Advisory

One-Way Traffic Control Next Week

Alpine County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform the following highway traffic controls and lane closures on State Route 4 (SR-4) / Ebbetts Pass for construction work next week in Alpine County. Work will occur as follows:

State Route 4

  • One-way traffic control from the Alpine Ranger Station to Silvertip Campground for drainage work on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • One-way traffic control from Silvertip Campground to Lake Alpine Campground for drainage work beginning Tuesday, August 18, through Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • One-way traffic control from Harry Thompson Road to Bee Gulch for drainage work on Wednesday, August 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • One-way traffic control from Coral Hallow Trailhead to Bear Creek for drainage work beginning Thursday, August 20, through Friday, August 21, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • One-way traffic control from Bear Creek to the Alpine Ranger Station for drainage work on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
