On the occasion of Children's Day, we wish all children the courage to explore the world, develop their passions, ability to choose wisely and a growing awareness of how to protect their privacy and personal data. Let the Internet be a place of learning, inspiration and safe development for you, and the knowledge gained helps you make responsible decisions also in the digital world.
More and more activities are moving to the Internet, which is why both adults and the youngest must be aware that their security is also data protection and privacy. Therefore, the Personal Data Protection Office encourages parents, guardians and teachers to talk to children about what personal data is, how to use the network safely and why it is worth protecting your image and information about yourself.
Remember that photos, recordings or information published in the digital space remain there for many years. Therefore, let's make sure that children learn to use new technologies consciously from an early age, and decisions about sharing their image are made given a proper concern for their rights, safety and future.
For years, the Personal Data Protection Office has been supporting the youngest, parents, caregivers and teachers in deepening their knowledge about privacy protection. This includes the 'YourData - Your Concern' programme, educational materials, guides and information campaigns on the safe use of new technologies.
Protecting children's personal data is not only an obligation for adults, but also an important element in building a safe environment for learning, development and play.
