Greetings Preservation Stakeholders!
As part of the requirements for DAHP's annual federal funding, we must maintain a current State Historic Preservation Plan. The current plan cycle is 2021-2026. Generally, DAHP has engaged in a new planning effort every five years. However, since the public outreach component was so robust and the goals are still very relevant, rather than undertake an entirely new planning effort, DAHP intends to prepare minor updates to the current plan. Your input is vital. This is a plan for the state, not just a plan for DAHP. We would like to hear your thoughts on any achievements as well as recommended updates to the Strategies and Actions. We have included some question prompts to guide feedback. You are welcome to complete the form (link below) or send your comments via email to [email protected]. The full text of the current plan can be found here: https://dahp.wa.gov/preservationplan.
QUESTIONS:
1. For the update, we would like your thoughts on achievements since 2021. Take a look at the Goals, Strategies, and Actions section (begins page 19) and tell us about outcomes you have observed or been a part of.
2. Do you have suggestions for additions or adjustments to any of the Strategies or Actions? Be sure to include a suggested Proponent (who is responsible) and the Expected Outcome.
3. Provide any additional comments or questions.
The comment period ends August 1, 2026.
NEXT STEPS: DAHP will prepare a draft update based on feedback received with the goal to make it available for review by November 2026. We hope to have the update finalized by the end of the year.
Thank you for your commitment to historic preservation in Washington!
