Palmdale Announces Spay and Neuter Program in Partnership with Community Effort Animal Rescue (CEAR)

PALMDALE, CA - The City of Palmdale is proud to announce the return of its spay and neuter program aimed at addressing stray overpopulation and promoting responsible pet ownership. This subsidized initiative is funded through Measure AV and will be managed by Community Effort Animal Rescue (CEAR). The program provides reduced-cost spay/neuter to Palmdale residents to ensure the health and safety of their furry companions and will help reduce the number of unwanted cats and dogs in the community.

"We are excited to direct Measure AV funds toward those who desire to be conscientious pet parents," said Mayor Richard J. Loa. "This not only helps manage the stray population but also provides a much-needed discount on spay and neuter service, making animal care more accessible to everyone."

Participants who show proof of residency with a valid government-issued ID and a utility bill in their name will be able to access the subsidized spay and neuter surgeries for their animals. The program is available to residents living in incorporated Palmdale in the 93550, 93551 and 93552 zip codes. Owners are responsible for all deposits and any costs beyond the subsidized portion of the spay or neuter surgery, such as pet medication or cone if needed.

"This is a great opportunity for us to address animal overpopulation in an affordable way," said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. "By offering this assistance, we can make sure that four-legged family members are cared for while reducing the number of strays in our City."

All cats and dogs must have a current rabies vaccine, or CEAR will administer the vaccine at the owner's expense. Proof of ownership, such as vaccine record or other veterinary documentation, is also required. Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) community cats are eligible with volunteer registration.

Appointments for surgeries can be made by visiting the CEAR website at www.CommunityEffortAnimalRescue.com/Spay-And-Neuter-Program or calling 661/389-3911. For any questions regarding the funding, program requirements or to confirm eligibility, please contact Palmdale's Public Safety department at 661/267-5234.
