Boston Public Schools Launches New Website

Boston Public Schools is delighted to announce the launch of a new website. The Office of Communications, in collaboration with Finalsite, is leading the multi-year project, which will deliver a high-quality user experience for students, current and prospective families, staff, and the community-at-large. The new site is designed with accessibility, ease of use, and clear communication in mind, ensuring all visitors can quickly find the information they need.

"Our new website reflects our commitment to transparency, accessibility, and engagement with our community," said Boston Public Schools Superintendent Mary Skipper. "We want everyone to feel connected to our schools and to have easy access to important information and resources."

The layout of the new website is based on website analytics from the current website, with information on academics and student life most-visible. In addition to the thoughtful navigation and design, a number of new features have been added to the site, including enhanced language translation and a news hub, where visitors can read about the latest happenings in the District and school communities, including student and staff achievements, news, and much more.

The first phase of the redesign includes the district homepage as well as several departments, including Family Resources, Transportation, and Welcome Services. The overhaul of the entire website, which includes more than 100 school websites, will be a multi-year effort with a continued intentional focus on the user experience.

"We designed our new website with our students, families, and staff top of mind," said BPS Chief of Communications Chris McKinnon. "Our goal was to make the new website a hub of important information that is easier to navigate and find the information you are looking for. There are also exciting things happening across our district every day and this new website provides us with an opportunity to share that work and our students' successes with a broad audience."

• Mobile-Friendly Design: Optimized for use on all devices, making it easier to access information on the go.
• Improved Navigation: Intuitive menus and a streamlined layout to help users find what they need quickly.
• Accessibility Enhancements: Features such as high-contrast options, improved screen reader capabilities, and increased page legibility to ensure the site is inclusive for all users.
• Dynamic Homepage: Designed to showcase notable upcoming events, news stories, and important information for our families. Check in each week to see what is happening in our district!
• Interactive Calendar: Up-to-date event listings to keep families and staff informed about important district and school activities that syncs with ParentSquare.
