On December 30, 2025, around 6:30 p.m., members of the Foot Patrol Unit were providing community engagement in the Central District. While at a store in the 300 block of Portage Avenue, they were alerted to someone attempting to leave the store without paying for merchandise.
The suspect was placed under arrest and he verbally threatened to harm one of the officers. An additional unit attended for transport purposes.
As the man was being placed into the police cruiser car he began to fight and one of the officers was kicked in the head. The officer did not require medical attention at the time.
A 37-year-old man is facing the following charges:
He was detained in custody.
