Ribbon cutting held at Mount Ayr Community CTE Academy

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026, at 1 p.m., to celebrate the opening of the Mount Ayr CTE Academy, located south of Mount Ayr High School.

The Mount Ayr CTE Academy is a joint venture between Mount Ayr Community School, Ringgold County Development, and Southwestern Community College. The facility is designed to provide a location for hands-on training for high school students. Career Academy programs, such as automotive repair technology, welding technology, nurse assisting, and education, will be offered in Mount Ayr for students from Mount Ayr and neighboring school districts.

Work began on the facility in October 2025. The new automotive technology program started classes there today. Michael Hall is the SWCC automotive repair technology instructor based at the Mount Ayr CTE Academy.
