Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco (R-Morris, Passaic) released the following statement regarding the resignation of Lt. Governor and Secretary of State Dale Caldwell:

"Dale Caldwell's resignation is an unfortunate but necessary first step to eliminating another distraction in the Sherrill administration. While this closes a disappointing chapter in the State's history, we are nowhere near the end of this story. There are still serious questions that deserve answers. When were these allegations first discovered, who in the administration knew and at what time, and how exactly were the allegations handled?

"This administration has been mired in chaos from the start and has lacked transparency in its conduct. But now that the Lieutenant Governor has agreed to resign, there is no reason to hide behind secrecy. The public deserves full disclosure. All records, reports, and internal communications related to these allegations and the investigation should be made available to the public as soon as possible. Non-disclosure agreements should also not be available in this situation, so the documents being released should have minimal redactions. The public has a right to know."
