NEW YORK - April 22, 2026 - The Albany County Bar Association (ACBA) honored Greenberg Traurig, LLP Shareholder Henry M. "Hank" Greenberg with its Distinguished Leadership Award at the organization's Court of Appeals Dinner April 16. A premier gathering of New York's bench and bar, the annual event celebrates excellence across the Capital Region's legal community and drew approximately 500 attendees.
Selected by the ACBA's 2026 president, the Distinguished Leadership Award is a lifetime achievement honor recognizing a member whose career reflects sustained excellence, distinguished leadership, a strong commitment to mentorship, and meaningful contributions to the legal profession. Greenberg, a shareholder in the firm's Litigation Practice in Albany, was recognized for his longstanding dedication to strengthening the legal community.
Greenberg is a nationally recognized leader in advancing initiatives to improve New York's court system and the administration of justice. He previously served as chair of the Commission to Reimagine the Future of New York's Courts, helping implement transformative changes such as expanded virtual proceedings and increased access to legal services. He also serves as counsel to the Commission on Judicial Nomination, which nominates judges to the New York Court of Appeals, and as chair of the Third Department Judicial Screening Committee. In addition, he has played a key role in pro bono and access-to-justice efforts, including helping launch a technology platform connecting underserved populations with legal assistance.
A prolific author and public speaker, Greenberg has written and lectured extensively on legal topics, including court modernization and access to justice. He has delivered presentations at leading institutions and national conferences and frequently serves as a legal commentator in media interviews.
He is a past president of the New York State Bar Association and holds leadership roles in numerous professional organizations, serving on boards and advisory groups focused on the judiciary and legal reform.
Greenberg concentrates his practice on civil litigation, criminal and civil investigations, and regulatory and administrative law. Over the course of his three-decade career, he has handled numerous high-profile matters. His work is informed by prior government service, including as counsel to the New York State Attorney General, general counsel to the New York State Department of Health, assistant United States attorney for the Northern District of New York, and law clerk to then-Associate Judge (later Chief Judge) Judith S. Kaye of the New York Court of Appeals.
Hon. Elizabeth A. Garry, presiding justice of the Appellate Division, Third Department, also was honored at the event, receiving the ACBA's President's Award, the organization's highest honor, recognizing outstanding service and contributions to the association and the legal profession.
