Santa Fe's emerging Midtown corridor is getting a major boost. Through the City of Santa Fe, the New Mexico Innovation Hub has been awarded $700,000 from the New Mexico Economic Development Department's Technology and Innovation Office to develop a new, state-of-the-art innovation campus in Midtown.
The investment will support the renovation of Benildus Hall into a 32,000-square-foot hub for entrepreneurship, workforce development, and cross-sector collaboration, strengthening Santa Fe's role in New Mexico's innovation economy.
The award is part of the state's inaugural Innovation Infrastructure Grants, a $2.7 million program designed to expand the physical spaces startups and researchers need to grow and stay in New Mexico. The program supports labs, prototyping space, offices, and collaborative environments aligned with priority sectors such as advanced computing, energy, aerospace, defense, and bioscience.
"This investment reflects what we're seeing on the ground in Santa Fe," said Johanna Nelson, Director of the City of Santa Fe Office of Economic Development. "There is growing demand for space where ideas can turn into businesses, talent can connect to opportunity, and innovation can take root locally. The Innovation Hub team has been building toward this moment, and this award supports that work by giving Santa Fe the physical infrastructure to match its creativity and entrepreneurial energy."
