New Agreement Will Support Taiwan's Growing Jewish Community, Foster Community Development, Global Leadership Engagement
After years of collaboration and cooperation, American Jewish Committee (AJC), the global advocacy organization for the Jewish people, and the Jeffrey D. Schwartz Jewish Community Center/Jewish Taiwan Cultural Association (JTCA) today announced a new, formal partnership agreement. Building on the groups' longstanding relationship, the agreement connects Taiwan's Jewish community with AJC's unparalleled 40-plus partnerships with Jewish communities and 40-plus offices around the world.

Specifically, the agreement provides a framework to ensure Taiwan's Jewish community has a trusted partner and a clear avenue to engage in advocacy and diplomacy with Jewish communities around the world, exchange best practices to combat antisemitism, and participate in international forums and leadership development opportunities.
The agreement, which is AJC's 44th such partnership with Jewish communities around the world and reflects the growing importance of Taiwan as a dynamic center of Jewish life, innovation, and international engagement in the Asia-Pacific region.
As part of AJC's global work to ensure the Jewish people and Israel are safe and thriving, AJC's Asia Pacific Institute fosters strategic discussions, outreach and advocacy with the region's governments, civil society, media, and business leaders.
"Taiwan has emerged as a vibrant center of Jewish communal life in Asia, bringing together entrepreneurs, diplomats, public officials, religious leaders, and families from across the Jewish world," said AJC CEO Ted Deutch. "This agreement reflects our confidence in the future of Jewish life in Taiwan and our commitment to deepening the connections that bind Jewish communities across the globe."
Over the past several years, AJC and JTCA have worked together on a range of initiatives, including facilitating AJC delegations to Taiwan, exploring opportunities to forge stronger connections between Taiwan and Israel, and deepening engagement between Taiwan's Jewish community and Jewish communities around the world.
"The Jewish community in Taiwan has grown substantially over the past decade and continues to attract Jewish professionals, business leaders, educators, and families from around the globe," said Jeffrey Schwartz, Founder & Chairman of JTCA. "This partnership with AJC recognizes that growth and provides a powerful platform through which our community can contribute to and benefit from the broader global Jewish conversation. We are proud to formalize a relationship built on trust, friendship, and a shared vision for the future."
"Taiwan plays an increasingly important role in AJC's engagement across the Asia-Pacific region," said Shira Loewenberg, Director of AJC's Asia Pacific Institute. "The community's leadership, openness, and international outlook have made it a natural partner. As Jewish life continues to flourish in Taiwan, and as Taiwan's relationship with Israel strengthens and grows, we see extraordinary opportunities to deepen regional cooperation, strengthen ties among Jewish communities throughout Asia, and create new avenues for engagement with AJC's global network."
Despite its relatively small population, Taiwan's Jewish community has established a growing presence within the broader global Jewish community. The formalized AJC-JTCA partnership will help deepen those relationships and expand the community's presence on the world stage. The agreement builds on the successes of similar partnerships between AJC and national Jewish organizations, including with Jewish Representative Council of Ireland, where a longstanding partnership has enabled Irish community leaders to draw on AJC's expertise and support in combating antisemitism, engaging with public officials, and advancing diplomatic outreach and advocacy.
Founded to support and advance Jewish life in Taiwan, JTCA has played an increasingly important role in fostering communal engagement, strengthening connections to Israel and the global Jewish world, and promoting Jewish culture, education, and identity within Taiwanese society.
