Mexico: Cotton and Products Update

Cotton production in Mexico is forecasted to decline in marketing year 2025/26 to 0.55 million bales as farmers reduce planted area amid low international prices, higher input costs, and limited access to improved seed varieties. Domestic consumption is forecasted to also decline due to slow growth in the textile sector, while imports are forecast to increase to offset lower domestic production. Mexican exports are forecasted to decline due to tight supply and weak global prices.
