The University of North Florida is ranked among the best national universities in U.S. News & World Report's 2026 edition of "Best Colleges" for the seventh consecutive year.
UNF improved in the overall national rankings rising nine spots to #222 since last year; moving up four spots to #122 among top public schools; and climbing 11 spots to #125 as a top performer on social mobility. The University is also recognized for excellence in its undergraduate business, computer science, nursing, psychology and engineering programs.
"We are proud to once again be recognized among the nation's top universities by U.S. News & World Report," said UNF President Moez Limayem. "This achievement reflects the dedication and expertise of our faculty and staff, the ambition of our students, and our commitment to providing a high-quality, affordable education that prepares graduates for meaningful careers and lifelong learning."
The rankings come at an exciting time for the University, which is experiencing record-breaking milestones this fall semester. UNFsaw its largest first-time-in-college class this fall and now has the largest total enrollment in University history - about 17,600. Graduate student enrollment is also at a record high, up about 10% since fall 2024. Additionally, UNF achieved a record retention rate of 86.6% for fall 2024 full-time, first-time in college students returning in fall 2025.
U.S. News's data-driven rankings help guide many prospective students and families in their search for higher education opportunities. The rankings are based on academic reputation, cost of attendance and return on investment. They focus on schools that provide ample classroom resources for students and faculty, confer bachelor's degrees at high rates and produce graduates who enter the workforce with manageable debt and worthwhile starting salaries.
