Yolo County District Attorney to Recognize the 2026 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week

Press Release

Woodland, CA - The Yolo County District Attorney's Office will recognize the 2026 National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW), by hosting the 20th Annual Crime Victims' Tribute.

National Crime Victims' Rights Week is an initiative to promote victims' rights as well as honor crime victims and those who advocate on their behalf. It is an opportunity to renew our commitment to underserved crime victims, to create and establish partnerships, and to enhance services from local providers to ensure that all survivors of crime receive the necessary support to address their victimization and begin the healing process on their own terms. NCVRW is also a time to reflect on the accomplishments of the victims' rights movement and continue to amplify the voices of survivors and create environments where they have the confidence to be heard, believed, and supported.

This year's theme is "Listen. Act. Advocate. Protect Victims, Serve Communities." The victim survivors will be celebrated during the week of April 19 - 25, 2026. The Yolo County District Attorney aims to bring awareness and continue to commit to creating safe environments for crime victims to share their experiences. Doing so enables methods of support, options for life-saving services, and, most importantly, hope, in their journey from victim to survivor of crime.

The Yolo County Victim Services Division will honor National Crime Victims' Rights Week with their annual Crime Victims' Tribute, which will take place on April 21, 2026, from 12:00 - 1:00 pm. The event will be held at the Woodland Opera House at 340 Second Street in Woodland, and will recognize Yolo County crime victim survivors, their families, and those that advocate on their behalf.

Victim Services program manager Laura Valdes states, "Yolo County stands united in honoring the strength and resilience of crime victims and survivors. As the Victim Services Program Director, I am thankful to our elected District Attorney for his continued support to recognize and bring awareness to National Crime Victims' Rights Week 2026 as a time to elevate the voices of survivors and reaffirm our commitment to their healing and justice. Every day, we work to ensure victims are treated with dignity, compassion, and respect, and that they have access to the resources and support they deserve. This week reminds us that our responsibility extends beyond response - it is about building trust, empowering survivors, and standing alongside them every step of the way."

The entire community is invited to attend the tribute and join us as we recognize individuals not only as victims, but as courageous survivors who are part of our strong community.
